Mandatory switch to the CAMT format from November 2025 – prepare your company now!

Imagine using outdated maps when the whole world has already switched to GPS. This is exactly what will happen if your company misses the changeover to the CAMT format. From November 2025, all banks will switch to the modern CAMT format – an international standard that will make payment transactions more efficient, transparent and future-proof. This transition affects all SAP® users who use the electronic bank statement (ELKO) and is therefore unavoidable for them. To ensure that your company continues to operate efficiently and keeps pace with regulatory requirements, it is crucial to prepare for the switch in good time. Plan your transition with us now!

Important notes on the switch

We would like to provide our electronic bank statement customers with the best possible support on the way to the switch. To ensure that this process runs as smoothly as possible, we have summarised a few tips here that you need to bear in mind.

  1. Do not perform the switch independently at the bank: Please avoid independently deregistering the previous MT940 format at your bank or agreeing a date for the switch without authorisation.
  2. Consultation and planning meeting: To ensure a smooth introduction of the CAMT format, you need careful planning with a recommended project duration of at least three months. We will be happy to develop a plan together with you.
  3. Project coordination by PROMOS: Our team of PROMOS advisors is at your disposal to support the transition in a targeted and efficient manner. Ideally, you should simply open a call in your SAP Solution Manager. You are also welcome to send us a message first using the contact form. No matter which way you choose to get in touch, we will take care of you!

Why are banks switching to the CAMT format?

In addition to the technical necessity, there are other important advantages in favour of switching to the new format. The CAMT format is a modern, international payment transaction standard (in accordance with ISO 20022). It offers numerous advantages over older formats such as the MT940:

  • Greater efficiency and transparency: The CAMT format enables the detailed and transparent transmission of payment information, which reduces errors and improves traceability.
  • Automation potential: The XML structure of the format supports the automation of financial processes, which reduces manual work and increases efficiency.
  • Future-proof: As an international standard, the CAMT format is flexible and can be adapted to future requirements, which safeguards your company in the long term.
