“Internet of Things” is the new magical forest. Like in a fairy tale, all the creatures that live there can speak to one another and understand each other. In a real life context, the hope is for all forms of technology to finally be able to communicate with each other across all device types and functional classes, to the benefit of users in industry, transport and housing construction.

Year after year, data centre activities need to be certified in accordance with the auditing standard IDW PS 951 Type 2. As of next year, the individual inspection tasks can be performed flexibly from a mobile terminal device. This is thanks to the new version of the Cobit 5.0 inspection catalogue, which is now available on easysquare.

It is not only tenants who insure themselves against critical cases with home contents and liability insurance – landlords also take out insurance policies to protect themselves against unexpected financial risks. As the fourth instance alongside the tenant, landlord and trade company, the insurance company assumes a monitoring, regulatory and coordinating role. Keeping track of everything here poses a great challenge, but if the company does so successfully, it can gain a crucial factor in setting itself apart from the competition.

The one thing that the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) promises above all is uniform data protection standards for all companies operating in the EU as of May 2018. The numerous changes in its content increase the requirements that data protection management has to meet in order to fulfil the many transparency and documentation obligations. Every sector of industry that is changing as a result of digitisation is affected by the GDPR. The real estate sector will therefore also have to face the new challenges.
